Why I Am Running

It is a privilege to serve others. Service does not discriminate nor does it hesitate to do what is right for the people, not only those you represent, but also the future of the county and its residents. I believe there is a perspective that I would bring to the commission of Sarasota County. That perspective is to bring a broader educational dimension to the commission. My education which is not only collegiate but also life experiences, this perspective will bring a perspective of changes that have occurred in my life but also the changes that I have been involved in the life of others. My social service background qualifies me to know constituents that have lived from poverty to prosperity. I am running for county commission, not because I want to, it is because I have to, it is inherently in me. My voice is the bridge that crosses the span conservatism but social consciousness, economic development with economic opportunity, the best of Sarasota with the potential of Sarasota. I am running because I believe the people of Sarasota County want a representative that will make decisions of value, that will make tough decisions, and that will listen and learn what is important to them, even if it is not important to everybody. That is the commissioner I am running to be.
